We are looking for a Construction Director who will oversee the construction of our future Matawinie mine and concentrator in Saint-Michel-des-Saints. Are you the right person to take on this major challenge?

YOUR MISSION

Our future Matawinie mine and concentrator in Saint-Michel-des-Saints will play a crucial role in the supply chain of materials for next-generation batteries, with a focus on cutting-edge and sustainable technologies. Under the direction of the VP Mining Projects, the incumbent will be responsible for supervising and directing the construction. The project, estimated at approximately $500 million, is currently in its feasibility study phase and should progress to the construction phase this year.

Your main responsibilities will include the following:

  • Supervise the entire construction process of the mine and concentrator until final delivery.
  • Supervise and administer the construction management contract for the partner who is to provide the construction team, in order to coordinate the contractors and their subcontractors to ensure that the project will be carried out according to budgets, deadlines and expected quality standards.
  • Bring NMG’s values to life on the construction site, ensuring that health and safety and the environment are at the forefront and overseeing compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets and required resources.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure the effective integration of engineering designs into the construction process.
  • Manage risks and potential issues related to construction, implementing effective solutions and communicating regularly with stakeholders.
  • Oversee the process for managing changes and change requests, ensuring that they are documented and approved according to established procedures.
  • Provide regular reports on project progress to internal and external stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and corrective actions.

YOUR SKILLS PROFILE

  • University degree in engineering or a related field.
  • OIQ member.
  • Significant experience of several years in the management of large-scale construction projects, preferably in the mining and/or heavy industrial sector.
  • Strong leadership, project management and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and guide team members towards achieving goals.
  • In-depth knowledge of building standards, safety regulations, and environmental management practices.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and varied stakeholders, in both French and English.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage project resources, budgets and schedules.
