We’re looking for an Environmental Coordinator to effectively implement environmental compliance, deploy an environmental management system (EMS) at our operational sites and prepare authorization requests.

YOUR MISSION

Reporting to the VP, Environment & Sustainable Infrastructure, you’ll incorporate environmental aspects into technical and strategic projects for Nouveau Monde Graphite’s activities in Saint-Michel-des-Saints (SMDS) and Bécancour while engaging with team members to uphold environmental compliance obligations.

  • Work closely with the operational site teams to ensure compliance with the applicable legal and corporate environmental requirements and with sustainability commitments for the pilot plants in SMDS and Bécancour.
  • Coordinate, submit and follow up on ministerial authorization requests (pilot plants, future commercial plants and mining projects for industrial aspects).
  • Help develop, deploy and implement EMS and different programs created to comply with the applicable regulatory and corporate requirements and adhere to existing and future government authorizations.
  • Work with external consultants to guide and coordinate the progress of environmental studies or initiatives at our plants.
  • Coherently manage data documentation.
  • Play an advisory role with managers and actively help train and coach the Environment and Operations teams.
  • Monitor environmental regulations and identify potential impacts on the Company’s activities.
  • Help develop and implement the appropriate compliance plans and develop short- and medium-term environmental policies, objectives, guidelines, and action plans for our plants.

YOUR SKILLS PROFILE

  • Undergraduate degree in environmental science or a related discipline (industrial, chemical or civil engineering).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in an environmental management role, including real-world experience with environmental compliance at a plant, permit applications and EMS.
  • Very good knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements, the ISO 14001 international standard, and emission control technologies (water, air, soil, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while working with a wide range of stakeholders within specific deadlines.
  • Be a team player who can work collaboratively on an HSE management team.
  • Be able to speak and write French and English and be able to communicate effectively.
