We are looking for a legal advisor to work with the Company’s departments to offer various legal services in different areas of the law. Your counsel will be required in mining law, construction law, securities law, Indigenous law and general commercial law.


In NMG’s legal department, no two days are the same and the weeks go by quickly. You may be called upon to negotiate an agreement in principle for a new partnership, a supply contract for specialized equipment, or a development agreement with First Nations; advise senior management on project risks; help implement new financing; or uphold our compliance with continuous disclosure obligations for a public company.

The position’s specific challenges include:

  • » Helping to negotiate and draft letters of intent, contracts, agreements of purchase and sale or mergers and acquisitions, documents related to investments or financing (bank loans, leasing, etc.) and all other legal documents (contracts for professional services, construction, procurement, leases, etc.).
  • » Identifying and evaluating the different risk factors related to the Company’s activities.
  • » Standardizing the contracts and legal documents commonly used by the Company’s departments.
  • » Advising the Company’s departments on legal and commercial matters.
  • » Drawing appropriate conclusions and meeting with stakeholders to resolve disputes.
  • » Developing a global understanding of the organization’s issues, particularly in relation to operations and more technical aspects.
  • » Researching and staying up to date on any legislation that pertains to the Company’s activities.
  • » Helping to develop and implement internal policies and processes to ensure compliance with the Company’s contractual, legal and regulatory obligations and to streamline operations.
  • » Making recommendations that account for the Company’s reality and industry.


  • » Have a bachelor’s in law and be a member of the Barreau du Québec, as well as five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant experience at a law firm or in a company; experience negotiating and drafting contracts for engineering, construction, and specialized equipment purchases is essential.
  • » Knowledge of securities for small and mid-cap public companies is an asset.
  • » Have excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • » Have good business sense and demonstrate self-sufficiency and discipline.
  • » Have a pragmatic, thoughtful and results-oriented approach to the practice of law.
  • » Be able to manage and prioritize multiple files at the same time.
  • » Have an excellent command of French and English (both oral and written).
  • » Demonstrate a sense of humility and a keen interest in learning and growing.
