We are looking for a process technician for our plant in Saint-Michel-des-Saints (SMDS).

YOUR MISSION

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the process technician provides instructions and explains operating parameters to team members (particularly operators); monitors and controls transformation processes; and operates, supervises and monitors all required process equipment and machinery (such as communications equipment, flotation cells, solid-liquid separators, thermal processing equipment) to control ore processing.

You will also be responsible for reporting even the smallest lapse in the operation of safety and process equipment during walk-around inspections; starting up or stopping equipment for operations or maintenance; performing quality control tests; managing emergencies with a cool head; and upholding compliance with environmental, quality-standard, and workplace-safety regulations.

You will also:

  • » Work closely with manufacturers and subcontractors to become familiar with the technical documentation and operating procedures for process equipment.
  • » Actively help start up the production line.
  • » Participate in technical and management meetings.
  • » Design, write and complete applicable production reports.
  • » Participate in risk analysis related to operations.
  • » Train operator staff.

YOUR SKILLS PROFILE

  • » Diploma of college studies (DCS) in mineral processing, metallurgy or chemical processes or a combination of equivalent training and experience.
  • » Years of experience in a related field may compensate for the education requirements.
  • » 3 to 5 years in a similar position.
  • » Ability to work in hot, humid, noisy, dusty or tight spaces.
  • » Ability to work on a team.
  • » Logic and analytical skills to solve an array of machine operation problems.
  • » Be in very good physical shape (particularly endurance), as you will walk around a lot during inspections and long workdays.
  • » Meticulousness and accuracy.
