We are looking for a Director, Engineering to oversee the design of our future Bécancour Battery Materials Plant. Are you the person we need to take on this major challenge?

YOUR MISSION

Our future battery materials plant in Bécancour will be a crucial link in the supply chain for next-generation battery materials with a focus on advanced and sustainable technologies. Estimated at nearly $1 billion, the project will advance to the detailed engineering phase later this year. As part of your responsibilities, you will:

  • Supervise all engineering phases of the construction project for the battery materials plant, from design to commissioning.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technical professionals throughout the design and construction process.
  • Work with contractors, suppliers, and consultants to uphold compliance with the project’s specifications, deadlines and budgets.
  • Manage the resources and budgets allocated to the engineering team to ensure that funds are used effectively and efficiently.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance plans to comply with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop the appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental efforts to ensure that the plant’s operations are seamlessly integrated into the Company’s overall organization.
  • Communicate clearly and transparently with the management team and stakeholders about the project’s progress, challenges encountered, and important decisions to be made.
  • Ensure that health, safety and the environment remain priorities throughout the construction process.
  • Help supervise the testing and validation of the facilities prior to their commercial commissioning.

YOUR SKILLS PROFILE

  • University degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical or the equivalent).
  • Be an OIQ member in good standing.
  • Have a number of years of significant experience in managing major engineering projects.
  • Experience in the battery materials, mining or chemical industries.
  • Strong leadership, project management and team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and guide team members toward meeting goals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders.
  • Advanced level of French and English.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage project resources, budgets and schedules.
  • A results-focused attitude, with an ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically.
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and to adapt strategies and plans to changing project needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality, safety and environmental standards in engineering.
