We are currently looking for a Director, Project Services.

YOUR MISSION

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the selected candidate will build and supervise a team of professionals who provide services such as project cost control and schedule tracking, document management, contract and procurement management, and planning for the two project owner’s teams that are managing and executing NMG’s two flagship projects: the Matawinie Mine and the Bécancour Battery Material Plant.

With these teams, the selected candidate will ensure that projects are executed on time and on budget and in line with the applicable quality and safety standards. Working with our construction management (CM) partner, your main duties will be to build and lead the Project Services team, which consists of the following groups:

  • A project planning, cost control and schedule tracking group that is mainly responsible for developing sound planning and appropriate reporting tools for all projects while ensuring compliance with schedules and budgets in collaboration with NMG’s Finance Department.
  • A contract management and administration group, which is also responsible for negotiating and drafting contracts, managing contract amendments, and resolving contract issues.
  • A group in charge of procurement for current and future projects and that monitors the quality, cost and lead times of deliverables.
  • A group that manages project documentation and integrates, standardizes and centralizes all documentation, such as drawings, plans, specifications and other contract documents.

The selected candidate will implement procedures, management tools, programs, software, and documents for tracking costs and project progress, in collaboration with internal teams. You will also onboard and supervise the various consultants and external firms that are helping to advance our projects.

YOUR SKILLS PROFILE

  • University degree in engineering, project management, business administration, or any other field that is relevant to the position.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in project management, with previous experience in the management of engineering projects and major project construction.
  • Significant experience in project management in the mining, metallurgy or complex processes sector is a major asset, as is relevant experience in procurement, contract management, project control, document management, and planning.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and work under pressure.
  • Proven leadership, team management and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, judgment and meticulousness.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems effectively and to implement long-term solutions at a fast-growing organization.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Location: Montréal or hybrid. Expect to travel to the construction sites of the Saint-Michel-des-Saints and Bécancour projects.
