We are currently looking for a Director, Quality and Certification who is passionate about implementing quality management systems.

YOUR MISSION

Reporting to the Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Business Development, you will oversee the development and implementation of systems to manage the quality and compliance of battery materials produced by the company and direct processes to obtain certifications for the various norms and standards that apply.

This new role is required in the transition to the commercial phase of NMG’s projects: the Matawinie Mine and the Bécancour Battery Materials Plant. This is a unique opportunity to make your mark on a small, agile team at a growing company!

Specific challenges include:

  • Develop and implement quality management systems to uphold the compliance of battery materials as per the applicable standards and regulations.
  • Supervise and coordinate quality control activities throughout the production process, from the extraction of feedstock to the final manufacturing of battery materials.
  • Work with internal teams to identify and resolve potential quality issues and continuously improve processes in all areas.
  • Direct the implementation of systems to uphold compliance with international certification standards (such as ISO and IATF) and work with certification bodies to obtain the necessary certifications.
  • Implement quality training and awareness programs for staff to ensure they understand and adhere to the established standards.
  • Manage internal and external (customer and supplier) audits of our management systems by identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Build and lead a team of high-quality professionals and work closely with other departments to meet the company’s quality and performance objectives.
  • Monitor changes to guide and direct the organization on any current or future requirements and obligations.

YOUR SKILLS PROFILE

  • University degree in materials engineering, chemistry, materials science, or a related field. Advanced training in quality management is an important asset.
  • Significant experience in implementing quality management systems, preferably in the battery industry, of high-purity raw material powders (such as those in the pharmaceutical sector).
  • Any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be given serious consideration.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality standards and regulations applicable to the battery industry (such as ISO, IATF) and of local and international certifications.
  • Proven leadership, team management and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, judgment and meticulousness.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems effectively and to implement long-term solutions at a fast-growing organization.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
