We are currently looking for an IT infrastructure and support technician. This is a unique opportunity to make your mark on a small, agile team at a growing company!

YOUR MISSION

Under the supervision of the IT Director, the selected candidate will ensure that the Company’s IT support services are fully available. You will supervise, plan, document and  provide fixes for the operational systems at NMG’s various sites. You will help manage the Company’s IT assets and the service contracts for its IT support. While providing both Level 2 and 3 support, the role will include the following responsibilities:

Support (Level 2 and 3)

  • Contribute to the infrastructure and cybersecurity component of NMG’s major construction projects.
  • Resolve problems experienced by the technical teams (infrastructure and technicians) and the business solutions team and document these issues.
  • Commission new equipment such as network infrastructure, document this process, and communicate any changes.
  • Manage firewalls (rule adjustment, cyberthreat monitoring) and email security solutions.
  • Formulate recommendations to improve the technical architecture of NMG’s entire network.
  • Supervise work done via support tickets handled by NMG’s external service.
  • Create Active Directory and Office365 accounts.
  • Consult, comment on, and take corrective action for our users for needs not handled by our external service provider.
  • Prepare and install workstations, servers and other equipment.
  • Manage and dispatch workstations to users.

Verification and maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly, annually)

  • Telecommunication links for all local and wide-area network sites
  • Backup and archiving
  • Server load and disk space at all sites, including operational technologies (OT) infrastructure (plant)
  • Security of server and telecommunications infrastructure
  • Server upgrades
  • Validation and testing of the recovery plan for IT systems
  • Help conduct security audits

Contribute to specific projects and help gather technology intelligence that is specific to NMG’s activity sector.

YOUR SKILLS PROFILE

  • DCS in computer science with a networking option or the equivalent, combined with 8 years of experience that includes 5 years in networking. Any equivalent combination will be considered.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking (communication protocols, cabling, routers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies and other systems:

    • Windows 2019+, including Remote Desktop Services (formerly Terminal Services), Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, RADIUS, Azure AD Connect
    • Microsoft 365 administration (Entra ID licensing, multifactor authentication, Exchange, Teams and more)
  • Knowledge of Fortinet FortiGate firewalls (rule management, IPsec site-to-site VPN and SSL VPN) as well as wireless network communications, VMware, and experience with PRTG network monitoring.
  • Basics of OT and familiarity with Aruba Instant On products are assets.
  • Show initiative and autonomy and be open-minded.
  • Be innovative, creative and meticulous in your work and have a strong customer focus.
  • Show team spirit and cooperate with your peers in technical support and business solutions.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and a capacity to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in French and English (spoken and written).
